Nina Deuse - Komponistin

Nina Deuse (*1990, Aalen) verbindet zeitgenössische Satztechniken mit Elementen aktueller Unterhaltungsmusik verschiedenster Genres. Dabei untersucht sie die Übertragung von rhythmischen, strukturellen und klanglichen Prinzipien verschiedener musikalischer Kontexte und formt daraus dynamische Prozesse der Transformation und Neukombination. Ein zentraler Bestandteil ihres Schaffens ist eine selbst entwickelte Modultechnik, die auf einer stark ineinander verzahnten Polyrhythmik, mehreren interagierenden Schichten sowie adaptiven Loops und Substitutionen basiert.

Sie erhielt die Auszeichnung mit dem Aufenthaltsstipendium des Freistaats Bayern im Internationalen Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia Bamberg und ist Preisträgerin des ad libitum Kompositionswettbewerbs der Winfried Böhler Kulturstiftung. In den ersten Jahren ihres kompositorischen Schaffens wurde sie mehrfach in Förderprogramme wie Jugend komponiert Baden-Württemberg aufgenommen. Es folgten der Bundespreis Komposition sowie ein Unterrichtsstipendium des Landesmusikrats Baden-Württemberg. Sie erhielt Kompositionsunterricht bei Edgar Mann, Philipp Vandré, Moritz Eggert und Jan Kopp.

Nina Deuse gründete 2022 Rent-A-Composer, ein Format für Kooperationsprojekte der zeitgenössischen Musik. Ihre Kompositionen wurden von den Hamburger Symphonikern, Xenia Pestova Bennett, der Christian Benning Percussion Group, Ensemble LUX:NM, Radar-Quartett und Ensemble S201 aufgeführt und bei Festivals wie dem aDevantgarde-Festival München, blurred edges Hamburg, Zett:emm Köln, KLANGZEIT Münster und next_generation Karlsruhe präsentiert.

Nina Deuse studierte Integrative Komposition mit Schwerpunkt Instrumentalkomposition bei Günter Steinke am Institut für Computermusik und Elektronische Medien (ICEM) an der Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen. Das Studium umfasste zudem die Fächer Elektronische Komposition, Popkomposition und Visualisierung.
Ihr Masterstudium in Komposition absolvierte sie bei Gordon Kampe an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Derzeit verfolgt sie dort ihre künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche Promotion.

Ihr Werk umfasst instrumentale Kompositionen (Solowerke bis Orchestermusik), Vokalmusik und Musiktheater (auch mit eigenen Libretti), interdisziplinäre Projekte (z.B. Musik und Tanz), elektronische Musik sowie Videokunst und Visualisierungen. Ergänzt wird es durch zwei Kompositionsreihen: die Klavierstückreihe Toccatas + Remixes und die experimentelle Copypasta-Reihe mit variablen Besetzungen.

Nina Deuse (*1990, Aalen, Germany) combines contemporary compositional techniques with elements of current popular music across a wide range of genres. In her work, she explores the transfer of rhythmic, structural, and sonic principles between different musical contexts, transforming them into dynamic processes of transformation and recombination. A central element of her artistic practice is a self-developed modular technique based on highly interwoven polyrhythmic structures, multiple interacting layers, as well as adaptive loops and substitutions.

She received the residency scholarship of the Free State of Bavaria at the International Artists’ House Villa Concordia Bamberg and is a prize winner of the ad libitum Composition Competition of the Winfried Böhler Cultural Foundation. In the early years of her compositional career, she was selected multiple times for funding programmes such as Jugend komponiert Baden-Württemberg. This was followed by the Bundespreis Komposition and a teaching scholarship from the State Music Council of Baden-Württemberg. She received composition lessons from Edgar Mann, Philipp Vandré, Moritz Eggert, and Jan Kopp.

In 2022, Nina Deuse founded Rent-A-Composer, a format for collaborative projects in contemporary music. Her compositions have been performed by the Symphoniker Hamburg, Xenia Pestova Bennett, the Christian Benning Percussion Group, Ensemble LUX:NM, Radar-Quartett, and Ensemble S201, and have been presented at festivals including the aDevantgarde-Festival München, blurred edges Hamburg, Zett:emm Köln, KLANGZEIT Münster, and next_generation Karlsruhe.

Nina Deuse studied Integrative Composition with a focus on instrumental composition with Günter Steinke at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. The programme also included studies in electronic composition, pop composition, and visualization.
She completed her Master’s degree in Composition with Gordon Kampe at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in artistic research there.

Her oeuvre encompasses instrumental compositions (from solo works to orchestral music), vocal music and music theatre (including her own libretti), interdisciplinary projects (e.g. music and dance), electronic music, as well as video art and visualizations. It also includes two composition series: the piano piece series Toccatas + Remixes and the experimental Copypasta series featuring variable instrumentation.
